Does it cost to see the alamo?

Does it cost to see the alamo?

Admission to the Alamo is free.
Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Inc. (DRT) receives no monetary help from local, state or federal government and depend solely upon money from sales in the Alamo Gift Museum, donations from individuals and private foundation grants to fund its educational programming and general operation.

They do have occasional special paid events, however.

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Alamo will present a unique educational opportunity on the evening of February 22, 2008. The public is invited to view a museum gallery presentation entitled To the People of Texas & All Americans in the World: The Alamo under Siege. Visitors will be escorted through the grounds to view a series of historical vignettes designed to tell the story of the Siege of the Alamo. Due to the nature of the event, however, the audience will be limited to the first 500 who purchase tickets for this exciting event. The cost for this event is $8.50 presale and $9.00 on the day of the event.

Feb 22 is the day General Santa Ana arrived in San Antonio de Bexar with his army, this event commemorates and celebrates the heritage of the Alamo.

My husband went in 1979 and it did not, wow that's up to the minute : )

no, it is free...

No Charge!

negative... its free
but bring plenty of money to buy all sorts of cool stuff

its a friggen wall .. nothing too special.

The alamo itself is a delight to visit. It's free and interesting. You don't have to spend any money unless you want to. The plaza in front of the alamo is a great deal of fun as well. Go to the bar at the Menger behind the alamo where Teddy Roosevelt found his Rough Riders for the Spanish American war. There is a picture on the wall. My husband's great great grandfather is in that picture. I have no clue which one he is. But here's a link to find out more about our city.
