What High School do you recommend me in San Francisco to go?

Im going to
San Francisco.
I need a High School.

I saw Galileo, but that school looks private.
and rich...for wealthy people????
I need a Public School

Galileo is a public school... it's free, just like every other public school.

San Francisco actually has zoning rules, and bus students around. They may have changed that in the past few years, but I doubt it. Basically, they'll pick a school for you, or give you a choice of 2 or 3, and you pick from that... unless it's a magnet school (School of the Arts, Lowell, etc...) in which case you have to interview/audition for that school specificially.

Anyway... it really depends on you, considering most of the schools have slightly different curriculum/attitude...

Galileo is mostly science focused, Lowell is for better than average students and is basically a college prep school but public, Mission is very "anything goes" and has many students who are very open and act/dress absurd/camp/in various degrees of drag on a daily basis (as well as many students who couldn't care less about school and a high drop-out rate... but many teachers who truly care, and will do anything for the students who DO care, so...), Independence is for students who work on independent study/work of their choice that isn't associated with the school system outside of school (be it music, dance, theater, or just working coz their family needs them to) - you only go into school once a week for an hour or so meeting with a teacher to go over assignments, then do the work on your own throughout the week - popular with both students working on other things outside of school (such as being active in the SF theater scene, etc...) and would-be drop-outs who need to work and don't have time for regular school, ISA focuses on international studies (and caters to international students), Washington is pretty standard curriculum and high school attitude (ie: sports teams, prep-rallies, clothes from the GAP, etc...), SOTA is arts based, and has programs for several art disciplines (fine arts, photography, music, creative writing, theater, etc...) which are the main focus (students have abridged math, etc... classes - they go to their core classes for about 20 minutes each/half the day, then arts classes the other half the day), etc...

All of these are public, as well as quite a few others. The magnet schools (SOTA, Lowell, Independence, and I think Galileo) you have to audition for/specifically apply for (note: Independence is EASY to get into, the others... not so much), but are free to go to if you're accepted (ie: they're not private) - and you don't have to be zoned to the school to go to it. The general curriculum schools (Mission, Washington, Lincoln, etc...) are zoned.

Certain other schools that aren't public, such as FAIS (French American International School) have public programs to aid kids going from public schools to them, so while the yearly tuition is like $26,000, you can get scholarships (even full scholarships).

come to my school you look cute!!lol msg back cutie!!

Go to Lowell, it is the best public school in SF.

If you want a public school then lowell is great. it is very hard to get into, and very big and competitive though so if that isnt what you want then i wouldnt rccomend going there. Although you said you didnt want a private school there are still some that you can get full scholarships to, and no the kids arnt all rich and snobby. at IHS you can get a full schholarship. and SI it costs $10,000 a year instead of the normal $20,000-$30,000. Good Luck
oh and you can also buy book that give alot of info about all the highschool in the bay area.
