Where can 14 year olds get jobs in san jose california?

San Jose Giants baseball team is hiring now. You can get a job as a bat boy. Also San Jose library has library page positions that are specifically for young people 14-18.

coldstone hires 15 year olds, but maybe try small drink shops like tapioca express? Or you can volunteer at some place first(i.e. tutoring at school), even though it's volunteering, you have a chance of getting paid in the future.

Fast food places like Jack in the Box, Wienerschnitzel, etc hire 14 year olds. You will need a work permit wherever you work though.

Those who say you cannot work at 14 are mistaken. I worked when I was 14 and nothing has changed since then.

Fourteen and fifteen-year-olds may be employed in the following occupations in the food service and retail industries:
鈥?Office and clerical work, including the operation of office machines.
鈥?Cashiering, selling, modeling, art work, work in advertising departments, window trimming, and comparative shopping.
鈥?Price marking and tagging by hand or by machine, assembling orders, packing and shelving.
鈥?Bagging and carrying out customers orders.
鈥?Errand and delivery work by foot, bicycle, or public transportation.
鈥?Cleanup work, including the use of vacuum cleaners and floor waxers, and maintenance of grounds, but not including the use of power-driven mowers or cutters.
鈥?Kitchen work and other work involved in preparing and serving food and beverages, including the operation of machines and devices used in the performance of this work, including but not limited to, dishwashers, toasters, dumbwaiters, popcorn poppers, milkshake blenders, and coffee grinders.
鈥?Cleaning vegetables and fruits, and wrapping, sealing, labeling, weighing, pricing, and stocking goods when performed in areas physically separate from areas where meat is prepared for sale and outside freezers or meat coolers.

Fourteen and fifteen-year-olds may perform cooking duties at soda fountains, lunch counters, snack bars, or cafeteria serving counters where such cooking is performed in plain sight of customers and is not the minor鈥檚 sole duty. In fast food restaurants where, for example, the french fryer is in plain view, a 14 or 15-year-old may perform duties related to that machine. Where hamburgers or other food items are prepared out of plain sight of the customers or such preparation is the minor鈥檚 sole duty, the minor must be at least 16 . Additional occupations prohibited to minors under 16 in food service and retail are listed in Chapter 8 of this digest. Minors under 18 are prohibited from using power-driven meat processing machines and certain baking machines.

You have to be 15 to get a workers permit in California. However, you can babysit, wash cars, or take care of peoples houses...
