Can anyone tell me about salinas ca?

Can anyone tell me about salinas ca?

Mainly Agricultural and light industry. Recent years have seen it becoming more and more of a bedroom community to the Silicon Valley. It is close to the coast but far enough away to avoid some of the summer fog. There are schools, shops, and people. Some good some bad as with everywhere else. The Ag industry has people who follow the crops. Salinas in the summer and Imperial Valley, Arizona and Mexico in the winter.

read John Steinbeck's books , he wrote about and was from Salinas

Its flat and they grow stuff there!

Nestled eight miles inland from Monterey, 101 miles south of San Francisco and 325 miles north of Los Angeles sits the Salinas Valley. Located in the heart of this valley is The City of Salinas. The City of Salinas grows more produce than any other county in the U.S. thus earning it the nickname, "The Salad Bowl of the World." To give you an idea of how much produce we grow for the country here in Salinas, take a look at these numbers: 80 percent of the nations lettuce, 50 percent of its cauliflower and mushrooms, 25 percent of its celery, 60 percent of its broccoli and 90 percent of its artichokes. So even people on the east coast eat produce grown right here in Salinas.
The Artichoke festival is a kick!

It's close to the Monterey Bay area (Monterey, Santa Cruz, Carmel, Aptos) which is good, but the city itself isn't really an attraction. It's an overgrown agriculture town. It's on the Salinas river in the Salinas valley, which goes along central california coast and empties in Monterey Bay. Surrounded by farmland, it can be pretty, framed by small mountains on both sides. Large hispanic population. Can be cold and foggy in the winter, dry and hot in the summer (100+ degrees).

Salinas was the childhood home of John Steinbeck. His home is restored and they used to serve lunches there 5 days a week, maybe they still do. Very nice and pleasant. There is also a Steinbeck Museum in Salinas. Also very nice. It is a nice place to visit. :)

I lived in Monterey and Carmel, about 35 minutes from Salinas; it's farm country - the "salad bowl of America".

You can buy fantastic vegetables from road stands during the season, and go to interesting festivals like the Garlic Festival, Artichoke Festival, Strawberry Festival....

It gets hot there, as it's more inland -but the coast is cloaked in fog a lot of the time, so one drives to Carmel Valley, or Salinas to see/feel some sunshine!

it's a weird little place, the architecture still has old styles...great place to find excellent Mexican food!
