Why do electronics in saudi cost so much?

dont say shipping becuase they are made in japan, so the price would be the same as the usa. and these are dealers who get the bulk prices. and the customs fee is much lower then that of the us, so why dont they have the sme price as the us?

as i said, there are notaxes in saudi. the cutoms fee for electronics is %5

huh?... I find the contrary... Everything here seems to be cheaper... Are you comparing riyals to dollars? you are dividing by 3.75 to see the comparable dollar amount?... I have found every single electronic item from TV's, playstations, harddrives, softwear, telephones, gadgets, etc are way cheaper than in USA..
edit:.. I asked my uncle who works in ARamco in materials department to be sure I wasnt mistaken, they order loads of stuff from anything from a pencil to mass equipment, anything and everything.. AND.. yes its loads cheaper here.. the same identical item is cheaper here than it is in America.. and im not counting shipping, tax, or that extra.. that only adds more..

I'm thinking import taxes...? The price difference is not that much, my iMac was only a $100 difference.

prices here today is cheaper than dubai
and MUCH cheaper than a place like egypt, where electronic equipment can cost almost double as here because of tax

plus here you got variet of chinese stuff that is very cheap and can play multi-systems, something you will pay very high price for in the US

It costs money to ship items, also don't forget when you buy it from the states, You pay sales taxes. It also depends where u buy it from in Saudi.

It depends where you buy it. If you buy it from the most lavish malls that cost 8 billion USD to build, it will cost more. If you go to regular stores, it will be much cheaper. Guranteed. (I got my 80 GB Ipod for about 190 in USD, and thats after only looking around for 3 days)

I found prices to be the same or cheaper than in the US or Europe (especially Europe), all Apple products are the same price as Europe (Apple is more expensive in the EU than the US which explains why you think it's more expensive in Saudi).

All the other brands I found being cheaper.
