Is it true that a woman can not go out with her cousin in Saudi Arabia and if they do, they recieve lashes?

well according to the sharia law if she is out with someone she could marry and is unmarried, she shouldnt..
But these days.. we think of cousins as just other siblings..
Its all in how you conduct yourself..
If you need to get into town to purchase something and your cousin is there and he has a car, sure Id use him to drive me to the mall to get what i need.. I wouldnt walk around holding hands, or flirting. but if you conduct yourself in a mature natural moral way, no one is going to stop you or challenge you.
I am a married lady, and frankly no one has every stopped me and my husband to view our marriage certificate.. I dont even know if I could find it in a hurry, its at home, probably jammed in amongst other important legal papers at the back of my closet.. loooooool
and in all my 29yr old life here, ive never ever seen or heard of anyone recieving lashes...
The western media just loves to make a mountain out of a molehill and report and exagerate all archaic laws of the middle east... ... We dont get lashes, nor does every household have 4 wives.... we dont walk 50 paces behind our husbands.... We do go out alone, quite frequently in fact... We do sit with our sister friends in the malls in coffee shops and enjoy a cup of coffee like anyone else..

Only if they were Eye lashes.

cousins of opposite sexes should have a marriage certificate with them or if they are in family groups, if not married to each other. So goes to anyone. Women should travel with a mahram(brother, father or uncle) correct me if i'm wrong.

i am saudi and let me answer your question with this little true story:

i remember when i was kid, my uncle went to california to study college. my grand mother used to worry a lot and cry when she remembers him and pray for his safety. She kept saying:
" I hear that in america if you walk with 50 dollars in your pocket people will kill you, take the money and leave you on dead in street."

well, then, she visited him and came back.

she kept crying and pray for him, but only because he was away, and she never mentioned that 50 dollars phobia again : )
