Seattle this weekend... Where to stay, what to do? HELP!?

Please help! I don't get what areas to go to, and what places are fun to go out? We went to go to a bar and see a live band. Any sugessions? Please let me know ASAP as I have to book it!!!

Like what is Pike Place and Pioneer Square? Ballard? Help!!!!!!!

Pike Place is an open air market. Great place to visit. Pioneer Square has several clubs that have live music but geared more towards the 20's crowds. Ballard has some great pubs and is geared for the more mature crowds. Many of the pubs have live music on the weekends.

Well, the downtown and waterfront area have lots of places to see. Pikes Place is a popular tourist spot in downtown and near the waterfront. On the waterfront there is a really good aquarium, and it is a good place to wander and get a bit to eat. The Seattle Center is north of downtown and has the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, and the Experience Music Project. The Belltown area is in between the two and has a good bar scene and should have places with live music. Pioneer Square is just south of downtown, near the stadiums, and also has lots of bars with some that should have live bands. Ballard is pretty north of downtown and will probably take you away from bars and music.

If you really want to stay in a place that will put you in the center of the tourist action, as well as a bar and music scene, look for places in Belltown, Downtown, and Pioneer Square.

Pike Place Market is a world-reknowned marketplace that is one of those must-see places for visitors, ala the Space Needle. Pike Place Market is right in the heart of downtown near the waterfront and the Space Needle is towards the northend of downtown, at the base of Queen Anne Hill and the Belltown neighborhood. Pioneer Square is at the southern edges of downtown and there are a number of bars and clubs and some shows, but that place has really gone downhill as a place to hang out, especially to see bands. What sorts of shows are you interested in seeing while you're here? I can see what sorts of things are going on... actually, you can take a look at
http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/Music
and see if there's any show listings in Seattle that sound interesting. If there's a specific genre, I can probably give you an idea of what venues play.

Have fun here! It's def supposed to be one of the "better" weather weekends we've had for sometime, but that means mostly dry and sort of not too cold!

Pike place sucks. The only thing that cracks in pioneer square is wild palms, trinity, or last supper club. You should go to capitol hill on saturday's the war room is the best place if youre 21+. Bellevue is pretty nice too.You could go to Parlours. It's a pool hall/club/bar/resturant on fridays. I could give you more but I don't know what days your going to be here.

+1 for almost any spot on Capitol Hill, including:

Linda's (drinking, pool)
Cha Cha (drinking)
Chop Suey (live music, dancing)
War Room (DJ's. dancing)
El Corazon (live music - not on The Hill, but at the bottom of it)

Here's a simple breakdown of Seattle's neighborhoods:

Belltown - yuppies, professionals, frat types
Pioneer Square - drunken frat boys & thugs, and the women who love them
Capitol Hill - hipsters with tattoos & fixed gears
U District - college students, group homes (kinda sucks)
Ballard - Nordic people & hole-in-the-wall bars (but it's still a cool neighborhood)
Fremont - Hippies & Yuppies living together in harmony

Also, Pike Place Mkt is OK if you want fresh fish or feel the need to donate to a bum, but besides that i don't go down there for much.
