Facts about seychelles? |
Facts about seychelles? look here: I'm a seychelloise, what exactly would you like to know? We speak kreole, but most of us can speak another language such as english and french, we are taught these two languages at school from a very young age. We are a small archipelago island nation, consisting of 117 islands, only 3 are really allowed to be populated, these islands are Mahe which is the main and largest island, it contains our only international airport. The capital is Victoria. Then the second largest is Praslin, which can be reached by aircraft or ferry/schooner. Then there is La Digue, which is a fantastic get away even for us islanders. There are not many cars there, there are more ox carts. Its flat so you can cycle the whole island in a matter of hours. Air only airline which flies internationally to many countries and domestically is Air Seychelles. We have the world famous coco de mer (double nut) also we have the oldest land tortoise in the world, but don't be fooled by his name, Esmeralda is a male. We also have changed our nations flag more than any country in the world. Our population is around 85,000. Our diet is mainly fish, rice and chicken, red meat is expensive most times. We grow our own local fruits. We have public buses, our currency is the seychelles rupee. We have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, such as anse lazio and anse soliel. Hilton has one hotel here, and are opening another. Prince william recently escaped here to Desrouches island. We have had many famous people come to our shores, mainly for we don't really care if they walk the streets, we don't bother them. The old ladies are very gossipie. We welcome all cultures. Hotels are somewhat expensive, but some islanders will invite you to stay with them. Umm can't think any more, but please feel free to ask me more...thanks for your interest into our country |
