| *Home>>>St. Barts |
We have a time share at Oyster Bay and were thinking about going to St. Barts.? |
It sounds like the boat ride over has been very rough at times and I'm a little concerned. Also it sounds like things are extremely expensive and people are snooty. What do you think? Once you're there what are the things you must see and do? Once you go to St. Barth's, you won't ant to leave!!! Be a nice world citizen and stop wasting valuable, non-renewable resources. Oyster Bay, St. Maarten I'm assuming. That's where I live. Amazing island, you're better off staying in St. Maarten! I've been to St. Barths..Nice place, as in a nice beach...nothing else to do over there, just nice and relaxing, secluded. Food is very overpriced! Stay in St. Maarten- great, reasonably priced food, entertainment, nightlife, casinos, clubs and bars, shopping, great beaches, relaxation...everything's here! Why go anywhere else? =) Well is St. Barth's is said to be the play ground for the rich and famous. I personally love St. Barth's. It is a nice experience. Very pretty - VERY expensive - friendly folk - and worth visiting once...though SXM is my love of ALL caribbean islands It depends on what you're looking for. Shopping and dining are better in SXM because St. Bart's has high end shops like Louis Vitton, Ralph Lauren, etc. and dining is very expensive. We bought 2 bottles of water and a bag of potato chips for $20 American, then a sandwich for $13. Someone on our cruise ship said the resturant they went into, the entrees started out at $75. In Gustavia where the ferry from SXM comes in there's not much nightlife in my option, but there is a beautiful beach near there (Shell Beach) which to me was the highlight of St. Bart. It's much different than SXM beaches, it's a rocky dark sand beach. I loved it there. I'm sure there's much more on the island but you'll have to rent a car, there aren't buses and I don't advise walking because people there drive like maniacs. And yes, the water around St. Barts is very rough it seems, but I don't think it is dangerous or intolerable. I don't think the people were snooty, they are french and they just have that air about them. Everyone was polite. I did feel the safest on that island than the others I've been to. |
