If a citizen of N Cyprus marries a British citizen, is he entitled to a UK passport or to live & work in UK?

I hope not!!

no i dont think so.. he/she would have to apply for british citizenship

First you would have to apply in the UK and to the embassy in Turkey.
Depending on your ages, history, and length of your relationship together you may/may not be able to get Visas or Citizenship.
They will look at things like whether you are about the same age, and how long you have actually been together and the history of the Turkish/North Cyprus citizen to decide whether this is just a marriage of convenience (Visa purposes) or whether you truly are in love and want to spend the rest of your lives together in the UK.
Because of Citizens abusing this system they can not just give visas/citizenships out here and there, and it is a very long in depth process.
Good Luck

Its not that easy anymore.
You will need to apply for a visa "Indefinite leave to Remain".
The UK government doesn't recognise Muslim ceremonies as a
marrage commitment so It would work easier if you where married in UK.
the visa has become a lot more expensive something it may be around 拢600 now. and could easily take a year to get a decision.
you will have to bring all sorts of id and info to prove that your marriage is real and not just to gain entry to UK.

and after all that you are only entitled to a passport after 5 years of living in UK. and you need to take an English test including general knowledge about Uk history including current Parliament members.
then swear allegiance to the Queen in a natralisation ceremony.
After your indefinate leave visa you will be given a NI number and you can work freely in UK

Hows that ?

Hope that helps

Only after Russia recognises the TRNC.

To the best of my knowledge, UK authorities do not automatically grant citizenship, nor work permits. There had been quite a number of 'arranged marriages' with the purpose of getting a UK passport.
If this N.Cyprus citizen is originally a Turkish Cypriot, then he/she can easily obtain a passport/ID card from the 'Republic of Cyprus', which is a EU member. That passport entitles one to enter/stay in the UK. However, if this N.Cyprus citizen is originally from another (non-EU) country, then it will be very difficult to do that.

Hiya

Slick Rick's answer is slightly incorrect - sorry!! If you're married you apply for a settlement visa which is valid for 2 years from either Ankara and Istanbul in Turkey (they don't do settlement visa's from TRNC anymore). You husband will then be entitled to enter the UK, apply for a NI number (and get one!) and then start work. After the 2 year settlement visa expires you then have to apply for IND (Indefinate Leave to Remain), you can then apply for a British passport one year after getting IND. Please be aware that applying for a VISA is a long drawn out process which is also very costly and the list of requirements is endless. Make sure you have everything you need (and more) before you apply as if you're refused you have to either appeal (which can take upto 12 months) or re-apply and you don't get you money back either.

Anyone marrying a British citizen doesn't get a passport automatically. You would be best advised contacting the British Consulate.Visas to the UK are easier to get than in Turkey. If this person is of Turkish Cypriot extraction then it is likely his parents or grandparents were British subjects and this may help in the process.

Mmm, I wouldn't bank on it, I don't think that marrying a British /citizen would automatically give you the right to a British Passport, besides, Northern Cyprus is not yet a member of the E.U either.
