How did the oil spill in Lake Maracaibo Venezuela happen?

How did the oil spill in Lake Maracaibo Venezuela happen?

80% of Venezuela's oil exports (about 2 million barrels a day) pass through Lake Maracaibo monthly, thats how. There are also hundreds of drilling derricks and oil pumps in the waters along the eastern coast of the Lake, there have been many leaks and ruptures to those oil pipelines.

Oil spilled into the lake and bad stuff happened.
