How many bottles of wine can I take, as an American citizen, on my vacation to Caracas, Venezuela, on a commercial flight from the U.S.?

I did that and they told me 2 lts., but when I arrived, everybody kept saying how they had brought 4,5,6 bottles of whatever liquor and had no problems.

So, you might just want to bring a reasonable amount. If you have any problems you might have to forfeit a bottle or two to get the officer to let you pass "this one time"...
