I visiting Austria , Vienna, Salzburg , any advice or recommendations?

Vienna Attractions... several:
Schonnbrunn palace, Hofburg palace, Kaertner strasse, Stephansplatz, Stadtpark, Donauturm, Prater, Opera house
Spanish riding school
And tonnnns of museums.... ask anyone

Shopping areas (the affordable ones in order of preference):
Mariahilfer strasse
Donauzentrum
Millenium city

Eating areas:
Anywhere in the 1st district (town center) - you'll find ample choice of cuisines. if you're non-vegetarian, make sure you try the local Wiener Schnitzel!

Hotels:
anywhere and everywhere - try to stay outside the 1st district as they're very expensive
-------------------
Salzburg.....
Hallstatt ice caves (must MUST see - you can get guided tours)
The city
Mondsee (one of the hundreds of beautiful lakes in the area)
Mozart's birthplace
Mirabelle gardens
Sound of music tour

when in salzburg, try to stay in a guesthouse (gasthof) rather than a hotel - its a much more affordable, memorable, homely and beautiful (not to forget quality) experience. you really get to see the true Austria that way

Enjoy your trip!

Visit the salt mines in Salzburg. Fun and interesting place.

Salzburg is Beautiful but expensive I know cause I lived there for a year. Ya and try some Special made hot dogs Unbelievably good.

I agree....the ice caves outside Salzburg are a MUST see experience. And the Sound of Music Tour is kitschy but great!! In Vienna, save some money for Sacher torte at the Hotel Sacher, and for beautiful objects visit the Swarosvski chrytsal world.
