Will be spending 3 nights in Vienna, is it recommended to make a day trip to Prague/Bratislava? |
I will arrive in Vienna for 3 nights in February. After surfing through the internet, I found out much information about Vienna and I believe 2 days would be enough to visit the sights, so was wondering if there are any daytrips available to Prague/Bratislava? I am on a limited budget so something more than 50 euro simply would not do it for me. I was in Vienna and Prague in May 2006 - and let me tell you that 2 days is not enough for either city. There is just so much to do! They both have great restaurants, pubs, museums, art galleries, wonderful cultures, etc. Between the two cities I found Vienna to be more interesting, entertaining, and charming. But then I can speak some German so I got more out of that city. Oh, by the way, the train trip from Prague to Vienna was over 5 hours long. Expect delays especially when they are doing passport checks and rail work so you may want to reconsider. I have visited both Prague and Vienna. I never went to Bratislava. I was born in Prague so am a bit prejudiced. Yes, you should go to Prague, although in one day you won't get to see much - and there is so much to see. Prague is a bit of a trip from Vienna, Brno is right over the border from Vienna and not at all a bad place (wonderfull Cathedral) i and my friends was in vienna last summer and we did exactly like what you want , some of us went to bratislava , some to prague and some inside austria with the nature , all guys went to prague said it was perfect and they liked it very much , all went to bratislava said its the place that you go onle once through all your life and you dont wanna to go there again , and there ppl not friendly . Salzburg, Insbruk and Graz are all great day trips from Vienna! But in February... there's likely to be snow in all these places... including Vienna. Wish I could answer your question about Bratislava. I wanted to go there when I was in Vienna but was with someone else who wanted to go to Graz instead... so we did. Wow, I had 4 days in Vienna and still didn't get to see as much as I wanted to, I can't imagine being able to see everything in 2 days... My wife is from Bregenz, Austria and lived 9 years in Vienna, so I had an excellent tour guide, but there was still so much more to see. Prague is wonderful, but I really enjoyed Vienna much more. |
