Please help with my travel plans.....?

We are planning a one week trip during New Year with our two-and-half year old son to some place in Europe. We had decided on Austria. But information gathered from the net is discouraging saying that it will be wet, gloomy and depressing with temperatures below freezing during the day. Will Austria be the right choice or can you suggest another place in Europe? Please please help.

portugal is the best place to go with ur kid.. if u want romantic.. go to italy..

Why don't you look for some kind of in door things to do if it is going to be wet.And if it's just going to be cold than pack to where your nice and warm to go sight seeing

You can think about SPAIN

that's rubbish - new year's is the best time to be in austria! there's beautiful snow everywhere, the mountains look amazing, as do the lakes and rivers. people come here especially during winters to enjoy the country covered in white.. it's heavenly!!!

If you are at all into winter activities, or just enjoy a quiet evening in front of the fire, continue with your plans for Austria. Just make sure that your destination(s) are Vienna, where the culture & museums will hold your attention, and the true Austrian Alps, a winter wonderland, to escape the marginal weather at the lower altitudes.
Oherwise, I would check out the Greek islands as an alternative. The weather will certainly be better than central or northern Europe, and the island hopping cruises should be delightful with a good taste of Greek culture thrown in.

Austria is gorgeous! The people there are very friendly, and Vienna is so much fun. I was in Vienna for 4 days last spring, and the weather was a little chilly, but did not hinder our trip. Our favorite memories included an opera (I would recommend a comedy such as the Magic Flute), fantastic restaurants, coffee shops, the musical Elizabeth, and the marketplace. I would also recommend a visit to Schonbrunn Palace and the art museums.

Make sure that you double-check the weather, though, because if it is damp and cold, then that could certainly affect your vacation.
