What are the great things about the Belvedere in Vienna? |
I know it鈥檚 a famous place but I don鈥檛 know much about it. When I get married, I want to have my honeymoon in Vienna. Can anyone tell me abut the Belvedere? The Palaces and gardens of the Belvedere today now houses an extensive and impressive art gallery. Here you will find neo-classicism; romanticism; Biedermeier; early 20th century; historicism; realism; and impressionism. It used to be the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy, a very successful Austrian military commander. The Belvedere are two palaces, the Upper Belvedere and Lower Belvedere, which are linked by a formal garden with water fountains and statues in the French style by Dominque Girard. It is divided into 3 levels: upper section is Olympus, middle is Parnassus, and the lower section is the Four Elements. By the Lower Belvedere there is the Orangery building, used to be a greenhouse but today houses the Museum of Austrian Medival Art. |

At the Hofburg complex, the former Habsburg royal family apartments, contains a number of museums: there is the Imperial Treasuries museum. Just be warned that no one speaks any English at the Bratislava train ... Generally the weather after Xmas is not bad, but it's quite cold (around 0 degrees celsius) and it may be slippery because of the ice. But if you want to go to Austria in winter it's the ... There is indeed and it is called the Highlander Scottish pub and is in Vienna (Wien). They have a website at highlander-pub.at and the address is Mo-Fr 10:00-02:00, Sa 17:00-02:00, So Ruhetag A-1... you can choose either one.. but if cost isnt an issue, then stay in the city! ... |
